Implications of New Batteries for Powering Robots
Submitted by Neo on Tue, 02/20/2007 - 13:49.
Even though the article released yesterday by Nanotechnology discuss the recent breakthrough in batteries talked primarily about their applications to alternative energy sources, the effects of the batteries on robots was immediately apparent. With batteries that are not only smaller and more compact than current ones, but are also 40x more efficient. This increase in efficiency would naturally greatly increase the applicability and usefulness of many different types of robots.
The entire article unfortunately has to be purchased, however a very good summary can be found at http://www.nanotech-now.com/news.cgi?story_id=20587

Wow, that's a serious
Wow, that's a serious increase in efficiency. That could let robots run for days rather than hours. Amazing. I wonder what other applications these batteries could be used for?
I'm sorry Master Luke, I can't. It is against my programming to impersonate a deity.
