More problems are being see by the drug business, Johnson and Johnson. The FDA decided they needed to come to Lancaster, Penn and shut down a medicinal manufacturing plant of Johnson and Johnson. The plant failed an inspection and will remain closed until the plant is restored to satisfactory condition. Johnson and Johnson has already suffered some high profile setbacks over the past several months, on the heels of a large recall of children's Motrin and Tylenol products.

In May, Johnson and Johnson was ordered by the FDA to close a Fort Washington, Penn., plant for non-compliance with codes. That plant manufactured children's Motrin and Tylenol. The plant in Fort Washington was run by a Johnson and Johnson subsidiary, McNeil Consumer Healthcare, which just announced a layoff of 300 of the 400 employees at the plant. The plant had to close down because the Motrin and Tylenol being recalled in 2009 were contaminated. A Tylenol recall initiated May 6, 2010 recalled 130 more bottles of Motrin and Tylenol because it had been contaminated as well.

Drugs probably needed by McNeil execs now

McNeil Consumer Healthcare has had the FDA on their case for years. McNeil and the Fort Washington plant have been constantly under investigation since 2003, and McNeil has issued five recalls of products within the last 8 months. Consumers probably want to know if safe medicine is even available anymore.
