Robot Laws

What sort of new laws will have to be enacted in order to deal with robots? Right now their independent cognitive ability is only slightly less than that of an insect, but with the rapid developments in robotic and artificial intelligence that will probably not be the case for long. What sort of legal aspects are required to deal with these "intelligent" machines?

South Korea is already

South Korea is already working on something like this, and the EU may follow shortly. I think that's it's a good idea what South Korea is doing, they're getting the laws set up and codified before something happens that isn't legally covered.

I'm sorry Master Luke, I can't. It is against my programming to impersonate a deity.

I agree. The lawmakers

I agree. The lawmakers should definitely be debating and setting up legal boundaries for robots before problems arise. That way the voters have plenty of time to review them and make sure that they work, rather than quickly slapping something together in response to a crisis. South Korea should be commended for its vision.
